Tuvia Liberman, Chief Technological Officer of Teldor Cables & Systems, is this year’s recipient of the prestigious IEC 1906 Award. 

The award was created to commemorate the founding of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) in 1906, and highlights an exceptional contribution to the development of international standards in a specific area of endeavour.  This years’s award recognises Liberman’s achievements in advancing international standardisation in the area of optical fibers and fiberoptic cables.  In additional recognition of his service to standardisation, Tuvia has also received the 2010 SII standards development award.

In their decision, the nominations commitee from the IEC stated: "..In recognition of his positive influence in the development of many indoor optical cable standards, notably the IEC 60794-2 series. He has, in addition, maintained a long-standing and constructive role as liaison officer between IEC SC 86A and ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC25.. He supported high-level, two-directional liaison, which is essential between system and component standards groups..."

Mr. Liberman is one of 5 international experts to receive this award in the field of optical fibers and cables.

At present he is authoring international standards on indoor cables, outdoor tactical cables, testing of fiberoptic cabling systems and hybrid cables
